Bethany joined the TakeAction Minnesota team as an Intern in 2017 and started serving as Development Coordinator in spring 2018. She comes to TakeAction from the domestic and sexual violence field, where she spent five years working in direct-service advocacy with youth who had been affected by interpersonal violence. This direct-service experience catalyzed her interest in going back to graduate school to deepen her understanding of social work practice – focusing on community practice and social work’s intersection with community organizing. This led her to the U of M,  where she gained significant experience doing project management, grants work and building collaborations in higher education and local government at the Hennepin-University Partnership.

As Development Coordinator, Bethany coordinates our grants management, facilitates relationships with funders and organizational members as well as works on event planning.

Bethany is a licensed social worker (LGSW) and is a board member of the National Association of Social Work – MN. She has her masters in social work (MSW) from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in political science and gender, women, sexuality studies from Gustavus Adolphus College.
