GOVERNOR DAYTON LAYS OUT VISION THAT WILL IMPROVE LIVES OF MINNESOTANS ACROSS STATE

St. Paul, MN – Dan McGrath, Executive Director of TakeAction Minnesota, issued the following statement praising Governor Dayton’s strong vision as he concluded his third State of the State address:

“For the people of Minnesota, these continue to be challenging times. Tonight, Governor Dayton laid out a clear vision for how to turn our significant challenges into broad prosperity.

“For those of us who spend our days and nights on the issues affecting working people, those who cannot work and those who are denied work, the Governor’s words tonight demonstrated that we have a strong ally leading our state. Someone that understands that a bit of sacrifice by a few can lead to a much better life for so many. Someone willing to act on his beliefs instead of taking an easier path by ignoring them.

“We are all called on to contribute to our future prosperity. We thank the Governor for calling on all Minnesotans to pay their fair share and return our state to a place of national leadership for broad based prosperity, innovation, and ingenuity.

“Governor Dayton understands that in working together, in sharing our resources widely and investing in the people of our state – by reforming our tax system and expanding affordable, accessible health care – Minnesotans across our state have a better chance to prosper.

“We thank the Governor for laying out an honest and responsible vision for how Minnesota can get our economy moving again for those who have lost so much over the past decade. It won’t be easy getting off our fiscal rollercoaster but ‘making winners of us all’ by investing much more in people and asking the richest who haven’t been required to pay nearly enough in decades is the vision we believe is needed to help guide our state.”
