TakeAction Minnesota Stands with Our Neighbors, Congresswoman Omar and Calls for Unbreakable Solidarity as the President Under Impeachment Inquiry Continues to Stoke Division

St. Paul, Minn.— President Trump held his first rally since being under impeachment inquiry at the Minneapolis Target Center on Thursday night. In an attempt to rally support, he stoked division, targeting Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN-5), immigrants, and members of the press.

TakeAction Minnesota released the following statement:

“As Minnesotans, we believe every person has inherent worth and dignity, no exception. We are inextricably linked to one another. When the President of the United States, who is under impeachment inquiry, attacks and scapegoats immigrants, Congresswomen of color, or any group of people, it hurts all of us.

He should have not been in our state tonight: he should resign.

A leader that divides its nation weakens the whole. We know his campaign playbook, and that he will continue to try and stoke division, while enacting policies that benefit billionaires and corporations.

We are at a choice point for our country.

Either we stand together with unbreakable solidarity across race, class, gender and geography, and rise up to meet the challenges we face, or we allow hatred and cruelty to rule the day.

We’re striving for compassion and believe in an abundant, interconnected world. We must reject white nationalism—a hate-filled political ideology that attempts to assert who has more worth and dignity in our society—that only exists to benefit the wealthy and powerful few.

We choose love, courage, and solidarity because we believe in each other, and our country. Our nation believes in equality, and in government that’s of, by, and for the people. There is no limit to what we can achieve when we stand united.”
